Dan is an organic grower with well over a decade of experience in gardening, farming, composting and general D.I.Y. know-how. Though he has a belief that science and organic growing can compliment each-other well, he is a staunch opponent of gene and seed patenting and works to promote ways of using plant sciences practically for the small-scale organic grower.
To Kaufman Farms, Dan brings experience in micro-farming, hydroponic gardening, bio-dynamic growing practices and poultry handling. Always an avid proponent of an even approach of research-based knowledge and 'what the heck, why not?!'-minded experimentation, Dan loves sharing wacky growing ideas with everyone he meets (often to their dismay).
Dan has been hand-pollenating chile plants in hopes of creating a custom breed that will be large, thick, hot, and have superb New Mexican Chile flavour. That said, please join him in boycotting the New Mexico Chile Growers Association for their endorsement of Genetically Modified (GMO) Chile, developed in cooperation with New Mexico State University School of Agriculture and funded, in part, by bio-tech giant Monsanto.

Aside from being a kind, caring, joyous person Lindsey is a brilliant plant scientist with a wealth of plant and science-based information (and quite an affinity for rare and unusual plants). A born biologist, Lindsey is mere months away from obtaining her Masters degree in biology with an emphasis on botany.
She is an awesome teacher and guide to both laboratory and field research and has the ability to explain incredibly complex botanical processes so that even Dan can understand them. (And that's saying something). Linsdey is a virtual encyclopedia of family-specific traits for all plant families and can often identify plants on the roadside while we drive by them at 50 MPH.
To top it all off, she is also the most patient and loving mother Ryker could ever have. She is the corner-stone of our family and her ability to keep the bigger picture in perspective is awe-inspiring.
Ryker Linnaeus is our pride, joy and wonder. Kaufman Farms would not exist if it were not for him. Ryker over-sees all our operations, personally makes sure Dan planted everything to the right depth (by stepping on it, usually), helps water all the plants, dutifully watches Sesame Street™ while soaps and salves are being made, and constantly reminds us of how amazing and beautiful it is to be alive.
A giant of a 2 year old, Ryker's gentleness and love are beyond measure. His laugh will echo in your head for days and his hugs leave you feeling at peace and serene.
He truly makes us... well, us.
